Take Care was held at Weinberg/Newton Gallery from September 15, 2017 through January 13, 2018. The group exhibition, also including work by Indira Allegra, Laura Berger, and The Think Tank that has yet to be named, aimed to examine the hurdles individuals are faced with in both the healthcare system and in navigating illness, particularly breast cancer. Care-taking, a deeply gendered activity, largely falls on women; this show, presented in partnership with Metropolitan Chicago Breast Cancer Task Force, aimed to encourage not only cancer awareness and prevention, but also greater action towards defending truly accessible healthcare and protecting women from potentially devastating barriers to care.
